Bear Mountain Lodge | Silver City

Located outside of Silver City, Bear Mountain Lodge offers refined and restful accommodations in breathtaking surroundings, with easy access to hiking, cycling, horseback riding, bird watching, nature study and wilderness. The lodge occupies 178 secluded acres, nestled in the natural grandeur of the Gila National Forest, minutes from Silver City. The 1928 Lodge has been fully restored and carefully maintained, with a spacious common area, with a well stocked library, gorgeous fireplaces and hand-hewn beams, as well as the Blue Dome art gallery, a dining room, and the gift shop. 

Staying at Bear Mountain Lodge

Bear Mountain Lodge features 12 rooms: six in the main building, four in Myra’s Retreat, and two secluded casitas the Wren’s Nest and the Coop. Each room displays art from the Blue Dome Gallery, creating a unique personality for each space. A substantial breakfast for each guest is included in the price of your room. Generally, they start with house-made granola, fruit and yogurt, then serve a hot entrée such as strata, frittata, French toast, or waffles with bacon or sausage.

Though there is free, wireless internet at the Lodge, there are no televisions. However, there is cell phone coverage, which can be scarce in the Gila. Complimentary breakfast is included, and bag lunches can be arranged as needed. There are 3.7 miles of marked trails associated with the lodge, connecting to the extensive trail network in the Gila National Forest. Guests can purchase artwork and sculpture throughout the Lodge and grounds from the Blue Dome Gallery.

The lodge and rooms are lovely, the setting spectacular, the restaurant has excellent food. It has such a relaxing atmosphere and it is so quiet. We come here usually once a year and always enjoy the get away. There are trails around the property and many lovely places to sit and read a book. This is my favorite place to go when I want to get away from everything and just relax. The rooms are private, quiet, and have everything you need. The scenery is breathtaking and the surrounding property is full of beautiful private trails. The animals (horses, cows, dogs, chickens) on the property are so sweet and pleasant and the staff has so many cool stories and information/recommendations to share about the area. If you give them 24 hours notice, they will cook dinner for you, which I highly suggest doing as the food is incredible! ~ Daria Berg
