Bill has promoted New Mexico travel and tourism for years, both at the local level in Gallup, as well as on behalf of the state at large. When the state decided to partner with a local pilot for a New Mexico True balloon, he was the perfect choice and he already had a balloon in the works that was a good fit. True Lee, featuring a unique sugar skull design.
Born and raised in Gallup, Bill Lee got involved with ballooning for about a decade prior to procuring his pilot’s license in 1997. He always had a passion for flight, having flown in everything from fighter jets to stunt planes. However, his chosen form of being aloft is found within the gondola of a hot air balloon. No two flights are the same. The 360 degree view is stunning and the balloon provides no resistance, moving with the wind sans steering wheel. It is a beautiful, peaceful and quiet way to greet the dawn.

Balloons launch from Red Rock Park, just east of Gallup, floating with the wind above striking red sandstone canyons and towering stone spires. All flights are scheduled to take off at sunrise. The flight typically lasts 1-1.5 hours, with the traditional post-flight toast and flight certificate. In total, allow 3 hours for the entire experience.
