Wendell’s is Inn of the Mountain God‘s signature dining establishment. Their menu features fresh seafood, aged steaks (including elk), delicately crafted desserts, and an impressive wine list. They’re open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also provide an extensive room service menu for hotel guests.
Whereas the restaurant leans more to the fine dining genre in terms of menu and price point, the atmosphere is fairly casual compared to formal, upscale restaurants. Whereas some folks consider Inn of the Mountain Gods as primarily a casino or golf course, it is much more than that. They have spa facilities, horseback riding, fishing, shooting, hiking, biking, paddle boats, and the zip lines (short one at the hotel, long one at Ski Apache). Many of the patrons are enjoying a meal or having a cocktail after spending a day outside. It is low key, lacking in pretense. The servers are friendly. It isn’t necessary to dress up. Many patrons dine in jeans, savoring their meal with one of Sierra Blanca’s spectacular sunsets as the backdrop, walking dessert off by the lake afterwards.
Wendell’s Lounge is adjacent to the restaurant. It is a cozy place to enjoy conversation and gets lively on weekends or during special events. They serve delicious appetizers, cocktails, with fireside seating. The views of Lake Mescalero, Sierra Blanca and the Sacramento Mountains are glorious. Whether you are staying at Inn of the Mountain Gods as a guest, or visiting to enjoy the links, Wendell’s is a fantastic place to unwind at the end of the day.
