Description
These paua shell and sapphire earrings are from Jack Boglioli’s Simply Unique Collection. They feature paua shell set in sterling and fine silver, with sapphires dangling gracefully beneath. They incorporate Jack Boglioli’s precious metal binding and weaving techniques in a simple yet elegant style. This makes for earrings that are understated, but very unique.
Design Details
The Sterling silver understructures of the earrings have a patina, or oxidized finish. The fine silver used to create the woven “Boglioli Settings” for the Paua shells, has been left without a patina for contrast. The earrings are about is 39 mm tall (1 1/2 inches) by 11 mm wide (7/16 inch). The lever-back ear wires are sterling silver.
Blue Paua Shell
Paua is actually the name of a species of mollusk from the family Haliotidae. It originates from New Zealand.
