Description
N. Howard (“Cowboy Jack”) Thorp (1867-1940) is best known for his cowboy song collections and for his composition, ‘Little Joe, the Wrangler,’ but he also wrote many descriptions of cowboys and ranch life and collected stories, legends, songs, and customs of the Southwest. The accounts of cattle culture, lost mines, local characters, and outlaws in this collection are previously unpublished manuscripts submitted to the New Mexico Federal Writers’ Project between 1936 and 1939.
