Mountain Skills Rock Climbing

Based in Arroyo Seco, Mountain Skills Rock Climbing provides guides for a variety of outdoor adventure around Taos. They have provided permitted, certified, and insured guided rock-climbing tours in northern New Mexico for over 20 years. All of the guides are experienced rock climbers, with at least 15 years of experience. Many have over 30 years of climbing experience. Though rock climbing is the main focus, Mountain Skills also offers skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, as well as rafting and rock climbing combos during the spring and summer.

Rock Climbing Classes

Mountain Skills offers camps for kids, team building, and classes related to climbing, rafting, and winter sports (back country skiing and snowshoeing).

Guided Rock Climbing

With over 300 days of sunshine a year, rock climbing in Northern New Mexico offers mild winters, cool summers, unrivaled sunsets, panoramic vistas, and a great variety of rock to climb. Mountain Skills professional rock-climbing instructors will guide you through an exciting climbing experience with confidence. Half or Full day adventures available, with a variety of terrain to appeal to all skill levels.

Rock & Raft

Spend the morning climbing, and or rappelling into the Rio Grande Gorge and experience the vertical world of Rock Climbing! Afterwards, enjoy lunch on the banks of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument area, and take a refreshing raft ride through the rapids below. The season runs April 15 – October 15, with better whitewater earlier in the spring.

Guided Back Country Skiing & Snowshoe Tours

For 25 years, Mountain Skills Guides have been providing guided outdoor trips in New Mexico. Mountain Skills guides can take you on a snowshoe adventure from 1 ½ – 3 ½ hours or take you to explore back country skiing near the Taos Ski Valley. Choose from easy, moderate, or extreme lines depending on your ability and the current snowpack.
