Are you searching for some delicious, down-home cooking and friendly service? You’ll get both and more at Mama’s Kitchen in Gallup, New Mexico. This local favorite is open for breakfast and lunch 6-days a week (closed Monday). As the name implies, you’ll feel like you’re eating a home-cooked meal, courtesy of your mom.
Mama’s Kitchen is usually pretty busy during breakfast, but don’t let the number of patrons scare you away. The service is quite fast, so any wait will be brief. Everything on the menu is wonderful, but you can’t go wrong with New Mexico standards, like breakfast burritos or huevos rancheros. If you are filling up your stomach for the day, Mama’s Madness involves pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Personally, one of my favorites is the biscuits and gravy. Though Mama’s Kitchen is best known for its breakfast menu, they also serve a fantastic lunch. The red and green chili are both flavorful, with the green edging out the red for heat. When in doubt, you can always opt for “Christmas,” sampling/enjoying both.
