When it opened in 1937, El Vado was one of New Mexico’s first motels to greet Route 66 travelers. Generations of families have forged lasting memories and adventures starting here. Today, El Vado is a unique blend of historic character and charm, combined with modern comforts and amenities, including 7 unique restaurants onsite, a taproom, free parking, free wifi, and swimming pool.
Single rooms accommodate up to two people, with a King size gel memory foam bed. Double rooms accommodate up to four people and include two Queen size gel memory foam beds. Suites are designed with contemporary luxury in mind and feature separate bedroom and living room areas. A front, full-length glass wall fills the room with natural light, and provides a view of the plaza, while maintaining 100% privacy.
El Vado Taproom
The El Vado Taproom is a unique and intimate gathering space for both locals and travelers alike. Guests can relax and warm themselves next to the kiva fireplace that was preserved from the original motel construction or belly up to the bar and explore the delicious and inspired craft beer selections that are proudly featured from the Ponderosa Brewing Company.
Event Center
Event Center with three combinable event rooms is a perfect setting for celebrating milestones or for professional events. The event spaces offer state of the art built-in audio/visual technology, and superior acoustics. A fully equipped warming kitchen can support all catering needs.
This space doubles as a lounge for motel guests, opening to an outdoor event patio. An indoor/outdoor fireplace acts as a central sculptural focus for the area. The event center also acts as an art gallery.
El Vado Plaza
The plaza showcases a water feature where both children and adults alike can splash and cool off on warm summer days. The Plaza showcases regional artisans and live entertainment throughout the year making this a festive destination for any occasion.

Beautify restored Route 66 motel. Great, friendly service. Delicious food options, taproom open in the afternoon. It’s very close to Old Town, Pueblo cultural center, the Zoo, and lots of other attractions. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat. ~ David Bacon
The El Vado Motel is a mid-century modern gem located on historic Route 66, with comfortable beds and well-appointed rooms. I stayed in one of their suites, complete with a living room sofa, chairs, desk, dressers, refrigerator, coffee maker and two big screen TVs. The pool and courtyard areas are decorated with wonderful plants and flowers. There are plenty of tables and chairs which are very inviting after a day of site seeing in Old Town Albuquerque. The El Vado is situated within walking distance of parks, artisan’s shops, great restaurants in the Sawmill district and beautiful architecture. ~ Jill Wolter
LOVE love love this place. Super chill, modern, spacious motel. Courtyard and pool invited lounging and visiting with locals and other guests. Comfy bed! MJ at the front and Sean serving amazing brews from the tap definitely added to a really great experience. Depending on the day of the week, there are little eateries and shops surrounding the motel. ~ Gigi
